Case Management Provides the Foundation for Individual and Family Services at Project Self-Sufficiency of Sussex County

Project Self-Sufficiency of Sussex County was founded on the belief that each participant brings a host of unique talents and challenges to their situation. Consequently, Case Management is the foundation of every service provided to individuals and families at Project Self-Sufficiency of Sussex County.

Participants are assigned a Career Training & Employment Specialist at their initial intake. After collaborating with the participant on the development of long and short term goals, the Specialist helps to shepherd each participant along their individual path to economic self-sufficiency and family stability.

The programs at Project Self-Sufficiency are designed to prevent welfare dependence, intergenerational poverty, unemployment, family instability, homelessness, school failure, involvement in the juvenile justice system, substance abuse and other at-risk behaviors. Project Self-Sufficiency is committed to continuing to serve the needs of families for generations to come.

The relationship between the Career Training & Eemployment Specialist and the participant is based on mutual respect, and for many participants, their Specialist is the only positive force in their life.

"Because of the caring staff at Project Self-Sufficiency and the feeling that I was a part of something, I believed for the first time that I could really succeed. Slowly, but surely, without even knowing it, Project Self-Sufficiency helped build my self-esteem, the piece of the puzzle that was missing."

"I know I am a much stronger woman and a much better mother today because of Project Self-Sufficiency. What I think is most important about Project Self-Sufficiency is that they never gave me handout, never did things for me, but instead taught me how to do for myself."
